Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant: A Strategic Upgrade for Egypt’s Water Future

A joint venture between Hassan Allam Construction and Metito has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant – Extension & Upgrade Project in Egypt. This initiative aims to modernize and expand the existing facility to meet the growing demand for efficient wastewater management in the region.

Project Scope and Objectives

The project involves upgrading the plant from primary to secondary treatment processes, including the implementation of sludge digestion and biogas generation systems. Additionally, the refurbishment of existing facilities and the construction of new treatment units are planned to enhance the plant's capacity and performance. Upon completion, the upgraded facility will have a treatment capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per day, aligning with national effluent standards.

Hassan Allam Construction, a prominent Egyptian engineering and construction firm, brings extensive experience in infrastructure projects across the Middle East and North Africa. Metito, a global provider of intelligent water management solutions, complements this expertise with its proficiency in water treatment technologies. The involvement of Intech, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding specializing in EPC water and wastewater services, ensures the integration of advanced technologies and efficient project delivery.
